Academic R&D Expenditures by Type (GA Tech, UGA, Emory)
The focus of the three leading research universities in Georgia is reflected in the types of academic R&D spending, according to the most recent data compiled in 2009. GA Tech spends the most in the fields of engineering and math and computer sciences, while Emory's R&D spending is dominated by the life sciences. The life sciences also command the largest share of R&D spending at the University of Georgia, but the social sciences and psychology also garner significant R&D spending there as well relative to GA Tech and Emory.
