Georgia High-Tech Sector Distribution by Employment
Software and IT services represents the largest high-tech employment sector in Georgia. This category accounted for more than 70,000 workers, or 27.7 percent of the technology workforce. The high-tech equipment sector was the second-leading category of technology employment, accounting for about 20 percent of the total. Although the telecommunications sector has declined in Georgia, the category still accounts for 18 percent of the technology workforce. The diversity of Georgia’s high-tech industries leads to a large block of the state’s high-tech sector workforce categorized as other.
